SUVs and 4WDs: Renting a SUV might be a good ideia, specially if you are planning to visit remote sites like the Alofaaga Blowholes or Cape Mulinuu, where roads are less developed.
Minivans: With 7 and 9 seats, the minivans are well-suited for the main Savai'i paved roads and provide ample comfort for longer drives, without the specific need for off-road features.

Main Location for Car Rental in Savai'i

In the island of Savai'i, the most common place to rent a car is the Ferry Terminal in Salelologa. This the primary entry point to the island for most visitors, since it connects Savai'i with Upolu.

In contrast, Maota Airport (MXS), handles fewer flights and less traffic overall. It's located near Tuasivi, 25km away from Salelologa, but you can still get your rental car delivered at the airport for an additional fee. Any applicable fee is displayed at checkout.

An important advantage to note is that we do not charge one-way fees. This means you can pick up your car at, for example, the Ferry Terminal in Salelologa and return it at the airport of Maota for no added cost.

Driving in Savai'i: Tips and Rules
